I had never taken any dog I have owned to any sort of training class before, until this this past August. I'm a professional horse trainer-competitor and have always been able to figure it out on my own.  My dogs have always been well behaved for the most part. I started having issues with my 3 yr old dog wanting to chase cars in the driveway at my farm out of boredom. I was at a loss at how to stop this and how to make him listen to me when his sight hound instinct kicks in. I had recently moved to downtown Frederick and he was also having anxiety issues about how busy it is with dogs and people. He gets worried when he is on a leash and not lose like at the farm. I had also just gotten a new puppy and didn't want her to learn this habit and didn't want to miss anything in her training so I started them both in classes. It has been wonderful for them both! My older dog loves to think and work in class. He is learning that other dogs and people around him in class are not a threat and it is making him much more relaxed walking around downtown. He is also learning to "leave it" and come when I call him even when he really wants to chase something. He did this recently out hiking- started to go after some chickens, but stopped and came to me when I called! He had a lot of good basics, but I am discovering places I missed things in his training and we are going back to add them in and improve it. It is making a world of difference. My puppy is so well behaved because of starting classes at 9 weeks old. She is very socialized from puppy class and is great playing with all dogs. She also learned everything well right from the start. She is currently doing level 2 behaviors with ease at 6 months old. Both of my dogs love going to classes and love Chris. We will definitely be continuing to work up the levels and any new dog I ever get will be starting classes here as well.

Chris Bevillard CPDT at GR8K9S: The Positive Dog Trainers showed us how to communicate and share our lives in a much more meaningful way with Archer and Edward. They are happier, healthier, more expressive, and so well behaved that we have been able to start taking them to places we used to avoid because of their behavior.
